Missouri S&T continues to garner recognition as a top-ranked university in the U.S. for students pursuing graduate degrees in engineering, with the school’s online master’s in engineering management on the rise, according to the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings.

Missouri S&T is tied with Duke University for third place in U.S. News’ rankings of online graduate engineering management degree programs, up from its sixth-place ranking last year.

Missouri S&T’s engineering management program was the first in the nation, conferring its first degree in 1968. In 2022, it became one of three founding departments of the Kummer College for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development, which was made possible by a transformative $300 million gift from the late June and Fred Kummer, a Missouri S&T graduate.

“We are so pleased to see our peers recognize our programs as truly exceptional opportunities for professionals who are seeking advanced degrees,” said Dr. Tim Faley, interim vice provost and dean of the Kummer College. “This ranking is a continuation of this pioneering program’s long-standing tradition of excellence.”

Missouri S&T’s online engineering management graduate degree program was among more than 1,750 programs offered by regionally accredited institutions whose programs are offered mostly or entirely online that were surveyed and evaluated by U.S. News. For the ranking, U.S. News ranked programs using five categories: engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer assessment, services and technologies, and student excellence.
