Indian Coal Demand Continues to Grow
State-owned Coal India Ltd.’s (CIL) Q3
2022 production volumes increased
substantially due to higher power demand,
according to the Economic Times.
The world’s largest coal miner’s quarterly
coal production climbed 10.6% over the
previous quarter to 139.2 million metric
tons. Power demand is growing at its
fastest pace in at least 38 years. The situation
has forced India to reverse a policy
to eliminate coal imports and reopen
closed mines.
