MINExpo is Back
Mining suppliers and service providers plan to showcase the latest in mining and
mineral processing equipment and technology

Social distancing and mass vaccination efforts eventually slowed the spread as the pandemic started to recede. Business travel in the U.S. has restarted with conditions and the NMA’s decision and timing now appear prudent. Las Vegas re-opened with its fi rst major trade show, World of Concrete, in June. Likewise, the largest in-person mining event in 15 months, Elko Mining Expo, took place during June and it was also well-attended. All signs from that event indicate that people are looking forward to meeting again face-to-face.
MINExpo 2021, which takes place September 13-15, 2021 at the Las Vegas Convetion Center, may be the mining industry’s opportunity to shake off the COVID-19 blues and get back to business. In addition to rekindling acquaintances, it will be a prime opportunity for mining professionals to learn about new equipment and different methods of improving safety and effi ciency. More than 1,100 exhibitors are planning to participate in MINExpo 2021. The question is: Will three days be enough to cover more than 660,000 ft2 of exhibit space? In an effort to optimize the experience, E&MJ reached out to roughly 100 exhibitors to get a sneak peek of what they have planned. What follows is a compendium of those efforts.
Caterpillar (C-6229)
Those that have attended past MINExpo’s
know that Caterpillar occupies the
largest space in the Central Hall. The
theme of Caterpillar’s MINExpo 2021
experience, “Together, we’re mining
better,” celebrates the company’s partnership
with mines and the ways it assists
customers to mine more effi ciently,
effectively, safely and sustainably. This
year the company’s 5,124-m2 (55,000-
ft2) exhibit will feature a broad range of
product displays, new equipment introductions,
previews of what the future
holds and remote operating stations.
The exhibit will be grouped under three specifi c core areas: environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) and sustainability; technology and automation; and equipment lifecycle management solutions. “After waiting an extra year, the mining industry is ready to reconnect at MINExpo. We are excited to show our customers and the industry the advancements Caterpillar has made not only in equipment, technology and services but also in how we are helping customers mine more sustainably,” said Cat Resource Industries (CRI) Group President Denise Johnson.
Vital to the vision of the all-electric underground mine of the future, Cat will showcase the R1700 XE LHD with 100% battery electric propulsion that generates signifi cantly less heat and noise. It offers a 15-metric-ton (mt) (16.5-ton) payload, 24,190-kg (53,330-lb) lift and tilt breakout force, and 18 km/h (11.2 mph) top speed. To optimize runtime and improve safety, batteries stay on the machine for charging.
Cat said it will also unveil the world’s largest, most powerful and effi cient electric drive dozer with high drive. The new Cat D11 XE dozer will be the most advanced, lowest emission-per-ton dozer in the industry, built to deliver the lowest cost of bank cubic meters (BCM) ever. Exhibited alongside the D11 XE, the new Cat D10 dozer offers up to 4% less fuel consumption than the previous model, up to 3% more productivity with high-horsepower reverse and up to 6% more effi - ciency with combined load-sensing hydraulics and stator clutch torque divider.
Cat will also introduce a new 992 wheel loader that delivers up to a 32% increase in productivity. It reduces maintenance costs by up to 10% and has demonstrated in fi eld testing up to 48% greater payload-per-fuel effi ciency in applications where a four-pass match to 90.7-mt (100-ton) trucks was achieved versus fi ve passes with the 992K. MINExpo will be the fi rst opportunity for many attendees to learn more about Cat’s recently introduced MineStar Edge. It brings visibility to the entire mining operation to show how activities early in the process impact those further down the value chain. MineStar Edge makes it possible to measure, manage, analyze and improve the entire mining operation. Equipped with MineStar Command for hauling, the new Cat 777G Water Truck provides a glimpse into the future for autonomously lowering dust levels at the mine site while maintaining haul road safety. Featuring the market’s fi rst autonomous water delivery system, the machine integrates truck, tank and sprayer and knows where and when to water haul roads.
Representing the Caterpillar fl eet of autonomous trucks, the displayed Cat 794 AC electric drive will be factory-installed with Cat MineStar Command for hauling. Recently, autonomous trucks using Command for hauling surpassed 3 billion mt of material hauled. Accurate to the centimeter, the exhibited Cat MD6310 rotary blasthole drill offers technology, effi ciency, safety and productivity improvements. Fully integrating Caterpillar’s proven components and systems, including technology and automation, the drill is capable of up to 42,149 kg (92,922 lb) of bit load and targets 203- to 311-mm (8- to 12.5-in.) hole diameters.
Exhibiting how technology can improve safety at the mine site, the Cat MineStar Detect Driver Safety System (DSS) display details how the system monitors eye-closure and head pose to alert the driver via seat vibration and/or audio alarm the moment fatigue or distraction is identifi ed. DSS has been shown to reduce 97% of the most signifi cant fatigue events, 80% of average fatigue events and 91% of distraction events.
From individual offerings to comprehensive solutions, Caterpillar and Cat dealers offer dozens of equipment management services designed to improve overall machine performance and mine site productivity. Component rebuilds, retrofi ts, aftermarket solutions and service agreements help customers get the most out of their investments. Dealer- provided Customer Value Agreements (CVAs) allow customers to focus on their core competency — mining.
Highlighting Caterpillar’s rebuild services capability, the rebuilt Cat C175-16 engine, which produces up to 2 550 kW (3,420 hp), on display reduces overall owning and operating costs. Team members will also be available to explain to attendees how MineStar Health maximizes equipment availability and reliability by connecting the machine to the offi ce. The service assists with proactive maintenance services and predictive equipment analysis by collecting equipment data, monitoring critical machine parameters, obtaining real-time alerts, analyzing operational trends and patterns, predicting failures and receiving repair recommendations.

Downtime is not an option and both of
these products help miners get the most
life out of their conveyor components.
Extending pulley life in abrasive applications has been a challenge in the conveying industry. The new ContinuWing technology incorporates unmatched wear resistance by using chromium carbide instead of traditional mild steel or AR alloys generally used on the face of a wing. This product will dramatically extend the life expectancy of pulleys reducing costly maintenance and downtime. A generational shift is taking place in the conveying component industry. PPI Idler rolls can be equipped with Vayeron Smart-Idler technology, offering the ability to predict and report idler failure, increasing productivity and reducing downtime. Tema Isenmann (C-5601)
Tema Isenmann will be giving away its
new magnetically backed stroke gauge
at MINExpo in September. “The fi rst
thing our secretary said when she saw it
was neat refrigerator magnet,” said Anthony
Yell, mining division manager for
Tema Isenmann. “Yes, it is that as well
but this simple analog device, which
does not require a battery, chip or a reboot,
is actually very useful.”
It’s used to measure the stroke on a vibrating screen. This is the displacement of the vibrating screen upwards and downwards when in motion, Yell explained. “The size of stroke tells you whether your vibrating screen is operating correctly for the screening application,” he said. “Generally, the size of the stroke is related to the screen’s aperture — the larger the aperture, the larger the stroke required.
However, this is only part of the story. By knowing the stroke and the drive speed, the gravitational force (G-Force) can also be calculated. This is the centrifugal force generated by the excitor or vibrator motor drive applied directly to the vibrating screen. If plant engineers know the G-Force, they can check to see if the vibrating screen is operating to specifi cation. “This is especially relevant when you pick up screening problems,” Yell said. “Often when we come across screening problems such as poor drainage, pegging or blinding etc., it is related to the G-Force being too low for the application. You can then contact your vibrating screen manufacturer and they will be able to offer advice on how to resolve the problem.
The stroke gauge can also determine if the vibrating screen is mechanically sound. “If you measure the stroke on the feed end of the vibrating screen on both sides, in a similar position, it should be the same or within around 0.02-in.,” Yell said. “If the difference is greater than that, there is a good chance there is something mechanically wrong with the vibrating screen, such as a cracked or broken cross member, runner or maybe an isolation spring, or a failed rubber buffer. A stroke difference between the feed and discharge ends of the screen greater than 0.05- to 0.08-in. is quite acceptable. Anything larger than that could indicate a mechanical problem worthy of investigation.” Using this simple check daily will ensure many years of trouble-free operation.

generation of operator experience, enhancing
operator awareness, improving
reliability and addressing personal safety
issues that cannot be solved by traditional
independent approaches.
Miners can expect reduced complexity in ownership costs and smart data analytics to visualize data patterns above and below ground, Hare explained. “For drill and blast, it means a complete solution tailored to minimize ore loss and dilution by delivering accuracy and precision to every step of the process,” Hare said.

Delegates will be able to see the
Cavex 2 hydrocyclone, which marks a
new era in separation technology. Its
LIG+ laminar and chamber design reduces
turbulence and allows the hydrocyclone
to classify up to 30% more
feed slurry, while occupying the same
footprint as Cavex 1 and competitor
cyclones. This enhanced performance is
unmatched by any known hydrocyclone
in operation today.
Cavex hydrocyclones can also be customized to suit almost any application, with a variety of spigots, vortex fi nders and liners. Weir Minerals’ expert team can tailor the Cavex 2 hydrocyclone to suit each operation’s unique application, as well as being able to retrofi t Cavex 2 into the site’s existing footprint to maximize production. The positive trials of Cavex 2 hydrocyclone in various mining applications provide us with the upmost confi dence that this is the most powerful hydrocyclone on the market.
The booth will also feature a hologram of the Enduron high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR). It reduces particles by compressing and crushing the feed between two counter rotating, parallel rollers with a small gap between them. Where HPGR technology has replaced traditional methods of crushing and grinding, such as SAG or ball mills, customers have seen energy savings of up to 40% and substantially improved mineral liberation.
The Enduron HPGR ensures optimal product quality through its controlled roll skewing and self-adjusting lateral walls. Skewing is a vital feature for high pressure grinding rolls as feed variance, segregation and the presence of tramp materials are inevitable in real world grinding circuits and will lead to uneven grinding and selective wear of the tires.
Delegates will also be able to view Weir Minerals’ Synertrex Intelligence Platform, which is paving the way for the future ‘connected’ mine. The key to the success of ‘connected’ mines rests on gaining access to multiple sources of information, an emphasis on smart data and a commitment to holistic intelligent platforms. Driven by advanced digital technologies, Synertrex improves equipment performance, abates emissions and reduces component wearing, eliminating unexpected breakdowns and maximizes productivity.
The Warman mill circuit (MC) duty slurry pump will also be on display. Combining hydraulic and wear experience with advanced material technology, the Warman MC pumps easily manage large size particles in highly abrasive slurries and are specifi cally designed for the most severe slurry applications, such as ball and SAG mill cyclone feed plus water-fl ush crushing in mineral processing plants.
Kal Tire (C-8609)
Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group will unveil
not just one but two fi rst-of-the-kind tire
management tools to advance safety for
technicians working around the wheel.
They will also be showcasing their new
thermal conversion OTR tire recycling
facility as well as their Maple Program
that provides customers with actual accredited
data on fuel and carbon emissions
saved when they retread tires or
repair with Ultra Repair compared to
buying new.
“We’re in a time when mines are acting on new and forward-thinking commitments to the environment, people and the communities touched by mining operations,” said Dan Allan, senior vice president, Kal Tire’s Mining Tire Group. “The focus on ESG is exciting in many ways because we’ve been developing several big and bold solutions that align with this future-minded focus.”
The launch of these solutions is part of a larger theme at the exhibition: how Kal Tire’s approach to innovation and sustainability solutions deliver positive change for customers.
Kal Tire’s latest innovation tools, Magnet Clamp and Wheel Inspection, aim to mitigate risk and improve safety for tire technicians. The Magnet Clamp is a remote-controlled clamp that secures and releases the last two-wheel bolts during dismounting, allowing technicians to stand at a distance rather than below the OTR tire and wheel assembly and manipulator. Kal Tire’s new Wheel Inspection tool is a mobile scope that scans for cracks along weld lines and ring grooves to determine instantly if a wheel is safe for use or if it’s at risk of fractures, saving mines from sending wheels great distances to manufacturers for testing.
The largest and most recent innovation is Kal Tire’s new OTR tire thermal conversion recycling facility in northern Chile. The process uses heat and friction to induce a reaction that converts tires into their base elements. Each day, one of two reactors can convert fi ve 63- in. tires weighing nearly 20,000 kg into 6,500 liters of alternative fuel, 4,000 kg of steel and 8,000 kg of carbon black as well as enough synthetic gas to fuel the plant itself for seven hours.
Kal Tire’s unique Maple Program is another solution that aims to help customers reduce their environmental footprint. The program leverages data from the company’s independently accredited carbon calculator to determine the actual carbon and fuel emissions saved by retreading as an alternative to buying new OTR tires. Customers receive a Maple Program certifi cate indicating actual data that can be used in reporting. New in 2021 is the Maple Program’s addition of Ultra Repair: Mines that use Kal Tire’s exclusive process for repairing large injuries to tires that would otherwise be scrapped can now quantify and report on the environmental benefi ts of using Ultra Repair vs buying new tires.
ESCO (C-4229)

An ESCO cable shovel cast lip with the Nemisys N3 lip system will be featured at MINExpo 2021. ESCO’s dipper lips are engineered and manufactured for maximum durability, service life and lower maintenance. They are seamless, single-piece castings, poured in a proprietary ESCO alloy formulated to provide excellent toughness and weldability. The wide range of lip profi les can match customer requirements and optimize dipper performance. ESCO lips are produced to fi t either Whisler Plus or Nemisys lip systems.
An ESCO bucket for a Caterpillar 993 wheel loader with Nemisys N65 tooth system will also be on display. ESCO produces reliable, performance-driven wheel loader buckets built for the world’s most demanding mine sites. ESCO buckets are compatible with most 5 m3 (6.5 yd3) class and larger loaders. Also on display will be one of ESCO’s newest innovations — the ToolTek system — a collaborative effort with key mining customers to provide enhanced safety for maintenance personnel during replacement of worn Nemisys points and adapters. The ToolTek system is a hydraulic crane mounted tool that is remotely operated, well out of harm’s way during replacement of worn components. New parts are pre-staged on racks conveniently positioned on the fl atbed truck outfi tted with the hydraulic crane. The ToolTek system is capable of locking and unlocking Nemisys GET, making installation and removal truly touchless. ESCO will have a team of product experts on hand at MINExpo to answer questions regarding ESCO’s products and services.
Several new products will be on display for the fi rst time including the Auto- Mine Concept vehicle. The fi rst fully autonomous battery-electric vehicle (BEV) for underground mining is equipped with new sensing capabilities and artifi cial intelligence to help the cabinless machine ‘perceive’ its surroundings and environment in 3D and react in real time. This enables it to adapt and plan its own route around a mine, even in continuously changing environments.
Sandvik will also unveil its latest battery-electric underground truck and the DS412iE, its fi rst batterypowered rock bolter, which completes the company’s fi rst full zeroemissions offering for all underground drilling applications. “We were proud to launch the industry’s fi rst battery-driven underground jumbo fi ve years ago at MINExpo INTERNATIONAL 2016, and we’re proud of our ongoing progress in electric equipment innovation since then,” added Ager. “We continue to expand our offering, and our latest battery-electric equipment contributes to a cleaner and quieter environment without compromising safety, productivity or effi ciency.”
For surface drilling, Sandvik will display the Sandvik DR410i rotary blasthole drill rig, Leopard DI650i down-thehole drill rig and Pantera DP1600i top hammer drill rig, part of the Top Hammer XL system. Booth visitors can learn more about AutoMine Surface Drilling, an automation system for fully autonomous and tele-remote operation of a wide range of intelligent Sandvik surface drill rigs. The AutoMine system’s new AutoCycle functionality enables a fully autonomous drilling cycle with hole-to-hole tramming for automatic rig relocation according to the drill plan.
In addition to displaying its latest rock tools including the recently launched Sandvik LT90 top hammer tool, Sandvik will launch a new DTH hammer, a new rotary bit, heavy-duty drill bits, a new drill bit for autonomous drilling and its latest digital rock tools solutions. The new RD212 and RD315 rock drills will also make their debut. The company will soon launch a dedicated microsite that will include an interactive virtual booth, live chat functionality and videos from the show to enable those who cannot travel to MINExpo to engage with its team.
Aura IQ uses fi ber optic cable to monitor the health of conveyor belt idlers to ensure that they are in stable condition. If wear and tear and potential failure are detected, the technology preemptively alerts operators and directs them to the problematic area. This predictive maintenance helps prevent part failure and belt damage which in turn reduces downtime. Strata has secured agreements to be the preferred provider for Private LTE coverage in both above and below ground operations. This dedicated network provides open bandwidth, fast data speeds and uninterrupted service.
StrataHub — Machine Digitization with Nerospec SK uses smart sensors to collect machine data during operations to provide fresh machine health information and enable optimized maintenance based on the machine’s current condition. Check the machine’s per formance and utilization by streaming data directly at the machine or remotely from the cloud. Along with these new product introductions, Strata will have a full-size emergency refuge chamber, fully equipped with DigitalBRIDGE Power-over-Ethernet for communication, monitoring, remote control and video.

“As the manufacturer, Xylem is well positioned to tailor our products to fi t the customer’s specifi c needs. One way we identify those needs is to carry out an audit of the mine’s total water management system as a fi rst step in boosting effi ciency and safety, while reducing costs,” explained Albaugh.
Due to its size and machine weight, the XR4030-E was the fi rst Xtreme tele-handler designed with a 6-speed transmission. Equipped with a Dana T32000 powershift transmission, the roller boom offers three high and three low drive speeds to easily handle all terrains. Specifi cally designed to operate on unimproved surfaces, the heavy-duty XR4030-E is able to support larger forklifts and telehandlers on rough terrain. Narrow dimensions, no outriggers and an 18 in. ground clearance allows the machine to easily maneuver around crowded job sites.
Several innovative features come standard on the XR4030-E, such as 360° operator visibility from the cab and intuitive controls that permit one hand on the steering wheel at all times. Steel-plated boom rollers provide smooth operation, reduce maintenance and offer long life durability. An integrated machine-rated boom lift point provides safe handling of suspended loads. A range of attachments customize and maximize its use on the jobsite, such as the pipe and pole grapple attachment with a 96 in. shoe that can lift pipes and poles measuring up to 7 ft. in diameter. The XR4030-E’s functional design is well-suited for mining applications.
The STM-Series that will be featured at MINExpo is a pre-sold screen and will leave the show and go to the Copper Mountain Mine in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is the second screen the mine has purchased from GK, according to GK’s marketing specialist, Heather Schuler. The company published a case study in June that proves the increased effi ciency and capacity along with a dramatic reduction in maintenance costs the mine has experienced by replacing their bruteforce screen with the STM-Series.
Visitors at MINExpo can also meet industry experts to discuss their processing challenges and discuss GK’s solutions. General Kinematics creates energy- effi cient, high-quality vibratory mining equipment to solve the toughest of process problems. It has a vibratory installation base of more than 40,000 units in 35 countries. GK provides after- sales service and support throughout its global network.

It will also be featuring differential GPS, which it described as the fi rst-ever Tagging and Hole Identifi cation method using Differential Global Position System (DGPS). This groundbreaking technology is bringing the mining industry a step closer to autonomous blasthole identifi - cation and loading, according to Gorrell. The company will also be featuring BlastWeb4G. Designed to reduce costs by decreasing time spent on production and development blasting in underground mining operations, BlastWeb4G is the most sophisticated centralized underground networking system on the market, Gorrell said.

Paus will be launching its new PMKM 8030 UG haul truck at the event. This combines a compact design with high tonnage capacity and enough power to increase productivity. “Along with this new truck, we have continued to develop scaling production with the introduction of the new PSCALE 8-T,” said Jaspersen. “This features a tiltable cab design for increased operator visibility. The addition of Cat diesel engine provides more power to combat high altitudes. This is packaged with radio control to handle dangerous backs or to pinpoint scaling in hard to see areas.”
Red Valve’s Pinch Valves feature state-of-the-art, fabric-reinforced specialty elastomer sleeves for extremely durable structural support. These are similar in construction to a heavy-duty truck tire and are much tougher than metal. McLanahan Corp., provider of process

according to Mark Krause, managing

Although McLanahan has been
known as a coal company, Krause said
that is not all they do. The company
also offers solutions for potash, cement
and salt and is making inroads into gold
and iron ore.
Krause said the company is using the show “to reposition who we are. To reintroduce who we are.” A large focus at the show will be on in-person interactions with current and future customers. “We’ve all been talking to a screen,” Krause said. People are over virtual meetings and are ready for face-to-face, and now the company can come out to a customer’s site and provide a proper solution for them, he said.
The show will present an opportunity to renew relationships, but also offers “another chance to start new relationships that you didn’t have before,” he added. McLanahan will also continue to focus on sensors that are able to provide artifi cial intelligence to customers. “The latest technological trend from a maintenance and performance standpoint will continue to be strong,” Krause said. He believes that evolution within the mining industry and the company will continue. The sensors provide McLanahan with the ability to keep their eyes on a machine’s performance and “to keep the scheduled shutdowns and not have to worry about the unscheduled ones.”

The power center is designed to prevent arc fl ash, a type of electrical explosion or discharge, on the safety side of things, Graf said. The SST keeps the power center up and running while troubleshooting or removing a down circuit, which signifi cantly reduces downtime, he added. On the electronic side, the company will feature the CB-2000, which Graf called the “latest and great circuit breaker.” The SST technology is included in the CB-2000 RRS-SST Circuit Breaker.
It will also feature its latest addition to its ground check monitoring, the GM-105-XLD, “Extra Long Distance,” impedance monitor. With an advanced 125 mA loop current, the XLD allows monitoring of cable lengths of up to 6.5 kilometers (km). The higher current loop provides more tolerance to connections or inline couplers, which can cause an increase in the resistance of the pilot circuit. In addition to ground check monitoring, the GM-105-XLD includes ground-fault monitoring for resistance-grounded systems. It continuously monitors the integrity of the ground wire to protect portable equipment from hazardous voltages caused by ground faults. They will also feature their new gas sensor. This new sensor is special because it is wireless and can monitor up to four gases, Graf said.
The 3324-AD scaler displayed is “designed with tram and scale mode, and with a maximum boom reach of 24 ft,” Matney said. The lithium battery management system (BMS) helps ensure the cells “stay within safe operating areas under all test conditions.” The machine is equipped with cellto- cell propagation prevention. “Batteries are enclosed inside a fl ame arrestor to reduce heat vented to the outside in the unlikely event of cell thermal runaway,” Matney said. “This model is designed with on-board charging and boasts of quieter operation.”
Attendees can use the FletchTech virtual, an interactive mining simulator. “Featured on the system will be a Fletcher Model J251 single-boom drill jumbo and a J352 dual-boom drill jumbo,” Matney said. “The simulator will allow visitors to navigate through an entire drill plan either manually or through Fletcher’s new autonomous mode, Automated Entry Drive.”
A separate interactive display will demonstrate the functionality of new spatial recognition technology, she said. “The system uses LiDAR scanning and point-cloud technology that allows the machine to know and analyze the face topology and surroundings.”

This will be Purvis Industries’ fi rst MINExpo
as an exhibitor. The supplier will
prominently display an operating miniature
conveyor system, featuring screw
conveyors, a belt conveyor and a bucket
elevator. It will be moving material, and
will demonstrate some of the range of
offerings now available.
“For us, it is very much a chance to demonstrate everything that we have, in one place, and to bring all the expertise together under one roof in one location and to meet our customers,” said Brian Radichel, vice president, marketing and business development, Purvis Industries. That’s no small feat. The range of those products and services the supplier offers has broadened substantially since the last MINExpo. “We’ve been a family-owned distributor for 75 years in bearing and power transmission products primarily,” he said. “We’ve expanded and diversifi ed over the past 20 years into electrical, fl uid power, conveyor belting, and we’ve expanded in the last fi ve years into more services, such as conveyor belt installation and repair.”
Since 2016, Purvis Industries acquired three companies: a bulk material handing conveyor manufacturing fi rm, an independent systems integrator, and an industrial construction and mechanical maintenance contractor. “What that really means is MINExpo is a coming-out party for us as a manufacturer that also happens to be a distributor,” Radichel said.
“We are now a manufacturer of bulk handling systems and solutions that are completely customizable,” he said. “Are you looking to replace a bucket elevator? Are you looking to replace just a simple conveyor? Or do you need a plant-wide solution?” The booth will also have an interactive display. “We are going to showcase a lot of different solutions that you wouldn’t expect from a standard distributor,” Radichel said. “What we will be doing is managing how new customers perceive us,” he said. “We are not really going to appear to be a distributor. Your fi rst impression of us will likely be as a material handling OEM.”
Aramine’s theme for the event this year is ‘innovation.’ At stand S-28031, the company will showcase its QRS Quick Replacement System which ensures a battery-powered machine can run continuously. The system was designed by the Aramine R&D department, initially for the miniLoader L140B. It allows the machine to run full-time except outside of the 15-minute battery swapping process which it completes using a crane.
Aramine will also announce the launch of a new 3.5-metric-ton-capacity battery-powered loader - the L350B. This will also utilize the QRS system for battery swapping and an optional version with autonomous battery changing without a crane is under development with a patent pending.
On its second stand, N-1779, Aramine will showcase its spare parts business. The company is a renowned manufacturer and remanufacturer and offers a wide range of genuine underground mining spare parts and components at competitive prices. Under the name ‘Smart Parts,’ Aramine has more than 150,000 manufacturers’ references computerized and 850,000 parts in stock within its different warehouses. The Eriez line of suspended electromagnets consists of 23 magnet sizes, 69 standard models and hundreds of special designs available for unique applications. These magnets are typically mounted or suspended over a conveyor belt to remove large pieces of tramp metal that represent a hazard to downstream crushers, mills, pulverizers and grinders.
Wet drum separators feature a stainless steel encapsulated magnetic element, one-piece stainless steel drum shell and a double-row of ball bearings easily accessible without drum disassembly. Liebherr will introduce three new excavators at the show: the R 9150 Generation 7 (machine showcased on the booth), the R 9200 Generation 7, and the brand-new R 9600 Generation 8 (cabin showcased on the booth). These three machines establish the new naming strategy based on technology levels for Liebherr machines. All three excavators are now equipped with the latest innovations including Liebherr Power Effi ciency, Assistance Systems, and Bucket Filling Assistant (BFA).
LPE (Liebherr Power Effi ciency) is a specifi c engine and hydraulic management system, which reduces fuel consumption by up to 20%. Assistance Systems are advanced on-board applications designed to support the operator to become more effi cient through analytics and actionable insights. Assistance Systems will be presented physically in the R 9600’s cabin and on tablets displayed on the booth. Visitors can also discover the Assistance Systems through an immersive experience in the VR area. BFA is the fi rst automation product for Liebherr’s hydraulic excavator portfolio, and allows the operator to realize the bucket fi lling process automatically.
The T 274 haul truck bridges the gap between the T 284 and T 264 haul trucks. Designed and adapted from years of experience in mining truck development, Liebherr said the T 274 is a true 305-mt machine that provides fast cycle times, higher production rates, low fuel consumption, and a low cost per ton. This new truck follows the same base design as the T 284, benefi tting from its decades of fi eld experience.
Liebherr components for mining applications will also be featured at MINExpo. Among the components is the D98 diesel engine series, which is available for both Liebherr and other mining equipment manufacturers, for new and repowered machines. The V-16 engine of the D98 family, the D9816, is not only on display at the booth but is also at the heart of the exhibited T 274 haul truck. This marks the beginning of the integration of the D98 series into Liebherr machines.
Liebherr will also debut its brand new Mining Technology Product portfolio at MINExpo. This will demonstrate the company’s interoperable and scalable approach to their equipment, technology, and service product offerings.

The company will demonstrate recent launch highlights including ABB Ability Condition Monitoring for belts which collects and tracks data from conveyor belts to enable mine operators to track speed, misalignment, damage, thickness and wear, slippage and temperature of conveyor belts in real time, as well as ABB Ability Safety Plus for hoists.
