Sandvik Fleet Ready for Work at Caribou
Part of the Caribou mine’s new $20 million Sandvik underground fleet has arrived at
the mine and are currently being readied for work, with more to come.
Trevali Mining Corp. said it has received delivery of part of its
new Sandvik underground mining fleet for the Caribou zinc mine
in the Bathurst Mining Camp of northeastern New Brunswick.
Early-arriving components of the new fleet — haul trucks and
loaders — are currently being transitioned into operations.
Trevali said the new fleet represents an approximate C$20
million investment through a partnership with Sandvik Mining
that will supply and maintain a full fleet of mining equipment.
The fleet acquisition is part of a site-wide optimization initiative.
Three loaders and four TH540 trucks have arrived at Caribou
to date, and additional items of the new fleet are scheduled to
be delivered over the next several weeks. The project, according
to the company, is ahead of schedule for full transition of mining
activities by the end of the second quarter of 2017.
