Kangra Coal Gives Green Light for Yellow Machines
At the beginning of 2013, two Eickhoff continuous miners commenced production at
South African underground operation
Savmore colliery after the owner of the
mine, Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd., commissioned
their own mining operations in their 1.8- to
2-m Dundas low seam area. Currently one
low profile Eickhoff CM2H-30 and another
recently refurbished Eickhoff CM2H-37 are
successfully cutting at the Maquasa Adits
on a 10-production shifts per week roster
and two maintenance shifts per month.
Kangra Coal employs about 720 staff and
annually extracts approximately 4 million
metric tons of raw coal from the operations
that are located approximately 60 km west
of Piet Retief, Mpumalanga province.
