New Products Extend Value of Rubber-pipe Components
Weir Minerals Linatex recently released two
new products and a new product
enhancement. New Linatex preformed
hose bends are intended as a replacement
for hard-walled pipe bends in slurry
transfer pipelines and are claimed to
provide significant wear life improvement
over standard metal pipe, particularly when
abrasion wear and vibration are issues. The
premium Linatex tube provides high wear
resistance in a rubber compound for wet slurry applications, absorbing the energy
from moving slurry and returning to its
original form while dampening vibrations.
Linatex hose bends are stocked in 4- to 16-in. (101 to 406-mm) IDs in both 45° and
90° 3D radii. In addition, Linatex said its
new wear indicator system provides a
solution to many typical issues associated
with hose maintenance in highly abrasive
environments. Unlike other wear indication
systems which only check for a break in the
wire (continuity) to detect a go/no-go hose
failure point, the Linatex indicator system
senses a change in resistance as measured
by ohms, providing for more accurate
results. Linatex said it has enhanced its
existing cut-end hose line by increasing
standard working pressure to 150 psi, and
taken steps to provide better performance
from its reusable, lightweight aluminum
flanged couplings.
