Unit Combines Primary and Secondary Belt Cleaners
Superior Industries has released what it
says is the market's first primary/secondary
belt cleaning system sharing a common
mounting point. With only one pole needed,
the Exterra SFL dual belt cleaner system
eliminates further additions to a conveyor's
structure—a step commonly required to
accommodate secondary cleaners. Another
key feature is the unique tensioning system
that applies a level of pressure set only
once, for the life of the blade, during installation. According to the company, the SFL
dual belt cleaner is designed to nearly eliminate material carry-back from the top cover
of conveyor belting after it passes over the
head pulley. The primary scraper is fitted
with Superior's Exterra primary belt cleaner. Mounted to the same pole as the primary,
the secondary cleaner is available in either
AR steel or tungsten carbide. It is designed
with segmented blades to withstand vibration and impact from belt splices during
operation. The Exterra SFL dual belt cleaner can accommodate head pulleys with
diameters of 12–20 in. (305–508 mm)
and belt widths of 18–60 in. (457–1524
mm). Later in 2011, the company plans to
expand the one-time tensioning unit to
accommodate pulley diameters up to 30 in.
