New Artic Offers Better Traction, Higher Payload
Komatsu America’s new HM300-3 articulated
truck is rated at 325 hp (242 kW)
from a Komatsu SAA6D125E-6 diesel that
is EPA Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage 3B
emission certified. The HM300-3 features
a maximum gross vehicle weight of
115,147 lb (52,230 kg) and can haul up
to a 31-ton (28.1-metric ton) payload at
maximum speed of 36.4 mph (58.6 kph).
The HM300-3 is equipped with KOMTRAX
technology, which sends machine operating
information to a secure website via wireless
technology. Data such as daily fuel consumption,
machine utilization, operating
hours, location, cautions and maintenance
alerts are relayed to the Web application for
analysis.
The HM300-3 features Komatsu’s
Traction Control System (K-TCS) which
automatically provides optimum traction
when operating in soft ground conditions.
Komatsu’s Advanced Transmission with
Optimum Modulation Control System (KATOMiCS)
includes a six-speed, fully automatic
transmission with advanced electronics
to eliminate shift shock and torque cutoff.
It automatically selects the right gear
based on vehicle speed, engine rpm and
the shift position chosen. According to
Komatsu, body design optimization enables
the HM300-3 to provide increased capacity
and payload. Its 9 ft 2 in. (2,820 mm)
loading height matches with 30- to 60-ton
hydraulic excavators or 5- to 7.5-yd3 wheel
loaders. Two single-staged body lift cylinders
provide a 70° dump angle. The truck
features a newly designed engine hood for
easy access and increased cooling capacity,
and is equipped with a hydraulically driven,
auto-reversing fan to help keep the radiator
and charge air cooler clean. The HM300-3
also has Komatsu’s EMMS (Equipment
Management Monitoring System) with
enhanced diagnostic features.
