Mine-Designed Welding Unit Offers Upgrades
Arcon Welding, supplier of welding units
designed for mining and other demanding
industrial applications, has updated its
Workhorse 300S to improve worker safety
and overall reliability. The updated products
feature a VRD (voltage reduction
device) or low-open circuit voltage model
to reduce the possibility of electrical shock
in damp areas and conditions. As this protection
is built in to the welder’s non-conductive,
reinforced fiberglass enclosure,
the feature allows mines to increase worker
safety without adding costly external
devices. Additionally, an optional frontpanel
mounted emergency shut-off switch
enhances safety in confined spaces by providing
workers with a large pushbutton
switch that is easy to see and operate. The
Workhouse 300S’s standard five-conductor
input power cable provides a second
ground wire, often needed for popular
ground-fault protection systems. All Arcon
welders come standard with a rear-panel
mounted circuit breaker and additional
internal components to protect the operator
and the machine from power-related
irregularities. The company’s proven
Seahorse Corrosion Protection package is
now standard on all welding power sources.
