New Rotation Unit for Atlas Copco DTH/ITH Drill Rigs
Atlas Copco Rock Drills has introduced a
new rotation unit for drilling blastholes in
the 92-203 mm range. The DHR 6 is the
latest model in the company’s DHR series
and meets customers’ increased demands
for air pressure of up to 35 bar with maximum
torque of 6 Nm. This rating, according
to the company, means the unit will
allow a DTH (down-the-hole) hammer to be
run at much greater power, significantly
accelerating the drilling rate. The DHR
units are hydraulically powered and suitable
for use with any type of DTH hammer
in the 92-203 mm range as well as ITH
(in-the-hole) underground production work.
The DHR 6’s design has been improved for
maintenance and serviceability, allowing
air inlet seals to be more easily replaced
and providing inspection holes and hatches
for checking possible oil leakage. The
unit can be mounted on Atlas Copco ROC
L625, ROC L630, ROC L825 and ROC
L830 surface crawler rigs and is also suitable
for all Simba ITH production drill rigs.
