Metals Concentrator Begins Production in China
China Shen Zhou Mining and Resources
announced in late April the completion of
construction on a concentrator in the
northern Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous
Region of China, a remote area bordered
by Kazakhstan and Mongolia. Commercial
production was expected to begin immediately
after a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony
held on April 29. The concentrator,
according to the company, will process
copper, zinc and lead ores and has a
design capacity of 200,000 mt/y. The
facility is located about 3 miles from the
company’s Keyinbulake mine.
