Flowmeters are Viscosity-Insensitive
Universal Flow Monitors says its L Series
viscosity-insensitive flowmeters assure
delivery of circulating lubrication oil to
machinery bearings in high-vibration applications
such as mining, ore processing and
rock crushing. These piston-style flowmeters
maintain +/- 5% accuracy for lubrication
oils with a viscosity range between 40
and 200 centipoise. Although operating in
the 40–200 CP viscosity range is standard,
a meter can be optimized for specific viscosities
within that range. The viscosityinsensitive
L Series meters can monitor
lube oil flow rates from 2 to 20 gallons per
minute (7.6 to 75.7 liters per minute). The
meters monitor rate of oil flow, provide flow
rate indication to assist in problem diagnosis,
and respond immediately if flow goes
too low. L Series meters are available with
a field-adjustable, high-vibration Single
Pole Double Throw (SPDT) Micro Switch to
trigger equipment shutdown in high-vibration
applications and protect against bearing
damage. The L Series units are
mechanical and require no power. They are
Type 4 weatherproof units with wetted
parts of aluminum, brass, stainless steel
and Viton fluorocarbon elastomer. The meters accommodate maximum ambient
temperatures of 150°F (65°C), maximum
fluid temperatures of 200°F (93°C) and
maximum pressure to 500 psi (35 bar).
