Allegiance Continues to Increase Nickel Resource Near Avebury Mine
Emerging Australian nickel miner, Allegiance
Mining, has estimated resources for a
portion of the East Avebury and Saxon
deposits recently discovered 1 km east of its
developing Avebury nickel mine near
Zeehan, Tasmania. A 200-m strike length of
the deposits has been drilled on a 50 x 100-
m pattern. Preliminary inferred resource estimates
for three lenses of mineralization delineated
so far–East Avebury North, East
Avebury South, and Saxon–total as much as
17,000 mt of nickel, depending on the minimum
cut-off grade applied to the estimates.
Drilling is ongoing, and significant additions
to resources are anticipated.
The Avebury mill is scheduled to begin
commissioning in the second half of 2007.
Underground mining began in January
2007, and ore is being stockpiled in readiness
for the startup of mill operations.
