Fans for Tough Mine Applications
JetAir, which specializes in building and refurbishing axial vane
fans from 18- to 84-in. diameter and up to 500 hp, says all of its fan blades
are now forged instead of cast, thus making them much stronger to the point of
virtual indestructibility, according to the company. The Farmington, New Mexico-based
company also announced that it has developed a line of Super-Silenced fans that
run quieter and take up less space than other integrated fans and silencers. Jetair
fan housings are constructed of 1/4-in. steel plate, with 3/8-in.-thick steel
flanges. Blades and hubs are fabricated from T-6 aircraft-grade aluminum, and
each blade is fitted with a 7/8-in. steel stud for greater strength. All fans
are equipped with spun aluminum nose cones that will withstand harsh treatment,
and all fans are both static and dynamically balanced before shipment. Heavy-duty
silencers, inlet bells, discharge cones and screens can be built to specific requirements.
